“Research on Key Technologies of Processing Complex super-hydrophobic   components for Marine Equipments by Ultra-fast Laser ” was a national natural science foundation of China-Zhejiang integration joint fund project in 2016, which was hosted by Professor Xue Wei, director of the base, and Professor Hong Minghui, National University of Singapore. The project mainly focused on the systematic research of processing efficiently super-hydrophobic complex components for typical marine metal materials (steel, aluminum alloy) by ultrafast laser, and   investigated the principle of multi-beam parallel basing on diffraction theory and   developed relevant prototype equipment; Investigated the influence of the space-time characteristics of laser beam (wavelength, pulse width, single pulse energy, incident angle, polarization characteristics, etc.) on the etching depth and width size, surface roughness, microstructure accuracy and physical and chemical properties of materials near the surface area of superhydrophobic microstructure, understood the technological mechanism and control method of laser processing superhydrophobic surface, and established the anticorrosive model, Anti-biological adhesion mechanism and durability influence mechanism of superhydrophobic surface under actual ocean conditions. The completion of this project would provide an important enabling technical support for the overall strengthening of China's marine equipment manufacturing industry in the next 10 years.
