    Research and Development of Key Technologies and Equipment for Laser Paint Removal of Aircraft Skin

    Major science and technology projects in Wenzhou


    As a green and efficient new paint removal technology, laser has a promising application prospect in the field of aircraft maintenance. Developing new technology and equipment for laser paint removal of skin surface with high quality, high efficiency, environmental protection, health and low cost has become an urgent task increasingly recognized by international aviation manufacturing engineering field, airlines and MRO enterprises. At present, the application of laser paint removal for aircraft skin in Europe and America has gradually transitioned from early military practice to commercial aviation. Generally speaking, the selected laser types have changed from early CO2 laser to Nd:YAG and fiber laser, and upgraded from laser paint removal for aluminum alloy skin to laser paint removal for composite skin, which reflects the potential advantages and forward-looking demand orientation of laser paint removal technology for aircraft skin in civil aviation manufacturing and aviation maintenance. China's aircraft skin laser paint removal started late in theory, process and automation, especially the theoretical and applied research on aircraft skin intelligence, automatic paint removal and maintenance surface treatment lags behind, and the corresponding accumulation of basic theoretical research, application technology development, prototype equipment research and trial is extremely scarce. The project aims to realize selective, controllable, environment-friendly and efficient laser paint removal for civil aircraft skin. The research contents include the research on the mechanism of aircraft skin layered controllable laser paint removal and the optimization of process parameters, the research on the influence of laser paint removal on the microstructure and performance of skin matrix and the repainting property of retained paint layer, the intelligent monitoring of laser layered paint removal process, closed-loop control and comprehensive evaluation of paint removal effect, and the development and application of engineering prototype of aircraft skin layered controllable laser automatic paint removal. The research on key technology and engineering prototype of aircraft paint removal based on laser technology to be carried out in this project is not only the general trend of the global aviation manufacturing and maintenance industry, but also the realistic demand of China's aviation maintenance industry for technical update and upgrade, and the "intelligent" power and civil aviation power, and will also effectively enhance the civil aviation maintenance capability of Wenzhou general aviation equipment manufacturing industry and the application level of emerging technologies in the industrial chain.
