On Nov. 25, Hu Changhong, secretary of the party group and executive vice chairman of Wenzhou Federation of Trade Unions, and his delegation visited the International Science and Technology Cooperation Base of Laser Processing Robotics of Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering to conduct research on the construction of Industrial Talent Academy for Model Workers, accompanied by Lin Shuhong, vice chairman of Wenzhou Federation of Trade Unions, and Wu Kezhu, member of the party group and secondary researcher of Municipal Federation of Trade Unions. Prof. Xue Wei, foreign academician of Russian Academy of Engineering and director of the base, Prof. Ma Guang, president of Laser Research Institute, Prof. Li Fengping, executive vice president of Laser Research Institute and Prof. Cao Yu, deputy director of Laser Base and other related personnel received warmly.
In the subsequent symposium, Prof. Xue Wei firstly expressed his warm welcome to the visiting Secretary Hu Changhong and his delegation, and introduced the current development pattern of "one body and two wings" of the base as well as a series of achievements in personnel training, scientific research platform construction and various projects undertaken at all levels.
After that, Sun Renfeng, professor of Zhejiang Institute of Industry and Trade and head of the project team, introduced in detail the background and functional positioning of the construction of the College of Industrial Talents for Model Workers and Craftsmen.
Secretary Hu Changhong said that the purpose of the construction of the College is to build a platform for the growth of workers. On the one hand, by integrating resources from government, enterprises and society, the professional skills of industrial workers will be gradually improved by taking the working class team as the cornerstone, and they will be nurtured to become highly skilled talents or even model craftsmen masters, so that workers can grow together with the enterprises; on the other hand, the skills of vocational and technical workers will be improved, so as to promote the development of industry with higher quality. On the other hand, to improve the skill level of vocational and technical workers, so as to promote industrial development with higher quality, to promote the integration of industry-university-research, and to serve the local economic development.
He also pointed out that there are more than 3 million workers in Wenzhou, and helping them to achieve skill upgrading is an indispensable part of building a model area of common prosperity. At the same time, universities, as one of the important elements of the industrial talent academy for model workers, can provide strong support for the workers' professional skills upgrading training. The laser research institute, as one of the first pilot labor model artisan industrial talent colleges, hopes to cultivate highly skilled talents for Wenzhou intelligent equipment field.
