Recently, the 48th Geneva International Invention Exhibition was held at the Geneva International Exhibition Center in Switzerland. Over 1000 technological inventions from more than 40 countries and regions were showcased. The technological invention "Ultra-High-Power Fiber Laser-Arc Hybrid Welding System" by Professor Xue Wei's team from the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at Wenzhou University, led by Researcher Li Fengping, attracted attention and received the Silver Award.
The award-winning technological invention, "Ultra-High-Power Fiber Laser-Arc Hybrid Welding System," has independently developed high-brightness semiconductor pump sources, fiber gratings, couplers, and their core components. It conducted key technical research on high-power fiber laser thermal management, beam quality optimization, and mode control. It has made breakthroughs in high-power packaging processes and digital drive control technology for key components. It has developed a multi-kilowatt high-spectral-purity fiber laser and a high-power robotic laser welding closed-loop intelligent equipment system for the complex curved surface welding requirements of typical metal materials such as stainless steel, titanium alloys, and carbon steel. It will be demonstrated and applied in the fields of food and pharmaceutical equipment, ships, aviation, and high-speed railways.

It is jointly organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization, the Swiss Federal Government, the Geneva State Government, and the City of Geneva. Every year, it attracts inventors, innovators, and entrepreneurs from around the world. The exhibition aims to showcase the latest inventions, ideas, and technologies, and promote international scientific and technological innovation, cooperation, and exchange.
Professor Xue Wei's team at Wenzhou University currently has over 50 researchers dedicated to technological research and achievements transformation in laser processing principles and techniques, laser equipment and intelligent control, laser additive manufacturing and shaping technology, and laser biotechnology. In recent years, they have undertaken more than 200 projects at various levels, established close cooperative relationships with over 160 companies, achieved over 70 technology transfers, and provided services amounting to over 50 million RMB. They have incubated more than 20 laser optoelectronic technology enterprises, with an annual output value of nearly 100 million RMB.
